To all our fans and followers….

With the fall season essentially coming to an end (and as some football teams continue to roll on) we are going with a truncated version of our Athlete of the Week awards. And with that, the football poll will be in full force once again.

That’s what happens when a team advances (and others fall) in postseason competition.

York Catholic for instance, is hoping a district championship isn’t far off, after the Irish dismantled Steel-High in a 17-0 victory Friday night. The team will play for a District 3 Class A title Saturday, Nov. 22 against Camp Hill in Hershey, Pa.

That’s the glory. There were disappointments as well.

West York, a No. 2 seed in the District 3 Class AAA bracket, was beaten at home by No. 7-seeded Cocalico, 28-18. The Bulldogs were done in by a penalties, and a strong Cocalico rushing attack (specifically, fullback Hunter High).

Bermudian Springs, a No. 2 seed in District 3 Class AA bracket, stalled out as well, falling to No. 3 Wyomissing 26-7. The Eagles finished their season with an 11-1 overall record.

That and Delone Catholic, a No. 4 seed in the District 3 Class A competition, lost to No. 1 Camp Hill (which will face York Catholic in Hershey) 17-0.
